My Heart Belongs In Africa

Red earth soil as raw as can be,
Prehistoric landscapes encompassing desert, jungle and vast open sea.

An expanse of land so dense and wild,
Every element of nature so beautifully designed and compiled.

I believe in energy in both the earth and the soul,
When my feet hit the earth in this African kingdom I start to feel whole.

Senses become alight, each burning with light and fire,
Singing from within like an orchestral choir.

The sun rises with such prominence and hope,
Setting in almighty colour at dusk over the savannahs and dainty antelope.

The night sky is born and the universe above is awoken,
The density of stars brining tranquility before the new daylight is broken.

Stricken with poverty but blessed with natural riches and wealth,
The magic of this place should be savoured with every last breathe.

Barren in political justice where heads of those should be bowed in shame,
Yet an overflow of strength and courage from those with no name.

The traditions of the diverse historic culture,
Act as protection from their very own governmental vulture.

Betrothed with corruption, war, death and disease,
Through the blood and tears the people pray on their knees.

Music you hear from the people of the rural tribes,
Can be felt through earthly vibrations and community vibes.

A place of lesson, truth and discovery,

It's never too late for salvage and recovery.
