Cocoon Coats

Image
The bigger the better because big is beautiful.   Oversized is the operative word this season when it comes to wrapping up warm. With sloped shoulders, giant collars and lapels, ample pockets and long lengths, the cocoon coat is a must have.  Whether its leather, wool or fur, wrap yourself in a sizeable silhouette and embrace the androgynous style.   Opt for the confident tomboy look and pair it with slim streamlined trousers to keep your look chic and your body toasty.

Dream a Little. Love a Lot.

Zayan The Label's 5th Collection at Fashion Forward The palette is soft, delicate, effortlessly dreamy.  Lightweight neoprene in meringue whites teamed with silver metallic and confetti pastel speck rafia fabrics. Neon coral and nude guipure lace.    The silhouette is, as always, girly, feminine, playful, irreverent.  Sheer paneling adorning mini dresses, fitted metallic and guipure bodices teamed with midi pleated skirts and cape back details, drop waisted shifts finished with coquettish gathered ruffles. Zayan Ghandour wanted to create an upbeat, light and playful world that her collection could inhabit. Real grass strewn with white roses and hydrangeas, lined either side of the catwalk while a custom-made mirrored staircase was centred at the top.   Magical, Dreamy and very Alice in Wonderland esq.

Holy Grail of Fashion

Image
Come saint or sinner it is the Church of Fashion that you should be adorning to this season.  Designers such as McQueen and Valentino imbued religious style into their catwalk looks styling prim and pretty with structured detailing for a modern monarch twist.  From communion gowns to nun's habits, this ecclesiastical fashion sees Elizabethan ruffs, quilted white chiffon and pearl scattered inky black leather.   Simple or overt it's time to write your own fashion gospel.

The Dark Bloom

Image
Moody blooms in overripe hues are scattered across our Autumn/ Winter wardrobe this season.  The leaves may be falling outside but this season's florals are in full bloom albeit with intense dark enigmatic glamour.  Burnt orange shades, stained lips and a smokey eye invoke a dark winter romance.   Blooming in every shape and form, from embroidery at Valentino, to graphic at Lanvin and knitted at Topshop.  This trend amplifies the ambiguity between strength and fragility, opulence and grunge.
